Banks

The Nigerian bank list and NIBSS account-name resolution. Use these to populate bank pickers and to verify an account number before creating a recipient or sending a transfer.

List banks

GET/v1/banks

Public endpoint — no API key required. Returns the complete list of banks TagPay can pay out to, each with its NIP bank code, in a single response — this endpoint is not paginated. Safe to call directly from a browser or checkout widget.

Resolve an account

POST/v1/banks/resolve

Returns the NIBSS-registered account name for a bank code + account number. Call this to confirm a destination before creating a recipient.

Body parameters

bank_codestringrequired

NIP bank code (3–6 digits). See List banks.

account_numberstringrequired

10-digit NUBAN account number.

Errors

INVALID_ACCOUNT400Account could not be resolved. Check the bank and account number.
UNKNOWN_BANK_CODE400No bank matches that code. See GET /v1/banks.
